DirectorsLord Razzall of Mortlake CBE - Non-Executive Director Having studied at Oxford University Tim qualified as a solicitor in 1969 and worked for Frere Cholmeley (later Frere Cholmeley Bischoff), becoming a partner in 1973, and chief executive in 1990 before leaving in 1995 to set up his own business. In 1974 he was elected to represent Mortlake ward in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames which he held for 24 years. During that time he served as chair of the council's Policy and Resources Committee for 13 years. In 1986 he became joint Treasurer of the Liberal Party and then Treasurer of the newly merged Liberal Democrats in 1988. He was appointed CBE in 1993 and created a life peer on 22 October 1997 as Baron Razzall, of Mortlake in the London Borough of Richmond. From 2000 until 2006 he was Chair of the Liberal Democrats' Campaigns and Communications Committee. He is currently the Liberal Democrat spokesman on trade and industry in the House of Lords. Major General Tim Toyne Sewell DL - Non-Executive Director Having been educated at Bedford School and Sandhurst Tim spent 34 years in the Army, his final appointment being Commandant of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. He became Director of Goodenough College in London and then, on retiring again, became Chairman of the International Board of United World Colleges. General Toyne Sewell is the Founding Chairman of the Benjamin Britten International Violin Competition in London and Chairman of the Kyiv Festival in Ukraine. He is also a Governor of Haileybury and Chairman of Lambrook Haileybury School. He is the Trustee of The Bedford School Foundation and member of the Council of the Royal Overseas League. He was on the Council of Queen Mary, University of London from 1996-2004 and Chairman of the executive committee of Disability Sport England from 1999-2000. He was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London in 1999 and granted the Freedom of the City in 2006. Tim Roberts - Managing Director Tim assumed the role of Chief Executive of Catalyst in April 2006. Educated at Oriel College, Oxford and Queen’s College, Cambridge in Management and Finance, Tim has over 30 years’ experience in commerce and industry. He has been integral in the restructure of small to medium sized businesses in industries as diverse as shipping and online gaming and has held chief executive positions in engineering, shipping, primary, internet and telecoms companies. Tim has a wide range of experience across all areas of corporate finance including mergers and acquisitions, flotations and fund raisings and is the architect of the ARM Bond and various innovative capital structures. Andrew Wilkins - Executive Director Andrew joined Catalyst in 2005 to design and bring to market Catalyst’s range of structured products. He was appointed as Head of Corporate Finance in August 2006 and has worked extensively on the origination and execution of corporate finance transactions across a range of industries including insurance, property, technology and mining. Andrew continues to head up the Corporate Finance and Structured Finance departments and was appointed as Executive Director in August 2007. Prior to joining Catalyst, Andrew gained experience in the law and as a senior executive in the new media and technology industries.
Senior Management Alison Moran - Compliance & Money Laundering Reporting Officer alison.moran[at]catalystinvestment.co.uk Alison studied law at both degree and postgraduate level (King’s College, London), before passing the Bar Vocational Course and being Called to the Bar (Lincoln’s Inn) in 1999. Prior to joining Catalyst, Alison gained six years legal and commercial experience as Head of Law Reporting and Head of Human Resources at a law reporting company. She initially joined the Catalyst team to advise on day-to-day legal issues and now heads up the Compliance department. Alison is currently studying for the SII Diploma in Investment Compliance. Moray MacPherson – Corporate Finance Moray.macpherson[at]catalystinvestment.co.uk Moray has worked on corporate transactions since qualifying as a solicitor in 1985. Educated at Lincoln College, Oxford, Moray has vast experience working with private equity funds including 3i, Close Brothers Private Equity, Gresham, Inflexion, Aberdeen, Hg Capital, Barclays Ventures, Advent and Lloyds Development Capital. He has been a Partner at various law firms including Head of M&A at Osborne Clarke and Head of Legal at KPMG Private Equity Group. Martyn Knight – Corporate Finance martyn.knight[at]catalystinvestment.co.uk Martyn is a Chartered Accountant who started as an auditor at Smith & Williamson followed by several years as a corporate recovery manager at Touche Ross & Co (now Deloitte & Touche LLP). Since moving into the commercial environment, he has been involved with several venture capital backed businesses, playing a key role in securing successful trade sales for such businesses. He has also helped start and grow a City based restaurant group and been finance director or controller of several companies in media, IT, retail, fashion and leisure sectors. Barbara Piper – Corporate Finance, Technology barbara.piper[at]catalystinvestment.co.uk Barbara has over 10 years’ experience in managing high profile, multi-million dollar product development projects, with multi-disciplinary teams in the military microelectronics and pharmaceutical / medical device industries for large multinationals including Texas Instruments and Alcon. She has held post-graduate research positions and holds a Bachelor of Science in Polymer Science & Engineering, a Master of Science in Materials Science & Engineering, a Diploma in Marketing and a Master of Business Administration. She is the author of a number of US and international patents. David Watson – Corporate Finance, Analysis david.watson[at]catalystinvestment.co.uk David read a bachelor’s and master’s degree in economics and finance at Manchester University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, qualifying with PricewaterhouseCoopers in London. He has extensive UK and international business experience, principally in financial services and media, and was Finance Director of British American Insurance. He is the author of an investment book ‘Business Models’ and has edited various investment publications. James Haupt – Sales james.haupt[at]catalystinvestment.co.uk James joined the financial services industry in 1988 having been a graduate recruit to Coca Cola. Since then he has worked across the sector and represented prestigious firms such as M&G, Rathbones and Close Brothers. He now oversees all the sales and distribution channels for Catalyst and is actively developing overseas markets such as Middle East and Asia as well as the UK. William Burn – Stockbroking will.burn[at]catalystinvestment.co.uk William joined Catalyst in 2003 and now heads up the retail sales and investment broking team. William previously gained experience at Barclays Financial Planning and Accenture and holds the SII Certificate in Investments (Securities and Derivatives) and has a dual honours BA Degree in Finance and Management Science. Martin has extensive experience in equity raising, company analysis, equity sales and new issues within the micro and small cap sector. Martin holds the Certificate in Investments and recent key projects have included structuring tax efficient products such as the EIS fund and working on the ARM Bond.

Richard Peat – Legal and Compliance Richard is a barrister who practises at 13 Old Square, Lincoln’s Inn. He specialises in financial services regulatory law and practice. Before joining 13 Old Square in 2005, Richard worked as an in-house lawyer, first for the Investment Management Regulatory Organisation ("IMRO"), and then from 1998 for the FSA. Richard is an independent practitioner, not an employee of Catalyst, but when appropriate Catalyst instructs Richard to give independent help and advice on legal and compliance issues. Dr Vassilios Tsitsiringos - Shipping and Finance Analyst Vassilios has over 20 years’ experience as an entrepreneur and financer. He read his PhD at Washington International University and is the author of "Risk Management Approaches to Valuation using Real Options and Related Financial Engineering Problems". He has held executive positions for various international companies both private and listed, across a wide range of sectors including shipping, real estate and finance. More recently Vassilios has been involved in a number of M&A transactions within the energy and tanker acquisitions sector.
Adrian Clarke – I.T Adrian has been responsible for the overall management of cutting-edge technology companies from start-up to NASDAQ launch and has a successful track record of managing marketing and dynamic growth within small, rapidly-expanding technical companies. He has developed intellectual property rights for a number of applications. He is a member of the OFTEL 192 Directory Enquiry Deregulation Implementation Committee and the Nokia and Orange Developers’ Forums. |
